See below for details on what is and is not included.
Itinerary
DAY 1: May 31
Welcome to California! Arrive at San Francisco Airport (SFO) by 12 noon for your transfer to Yosemite (~ 4 hours). You and your luggage will meet your guides at a location to be announced (either the Rental Car Center stop* or a spot in downtown San Francisco).
*AirTrain blue line from your terminal to Rental Car Center will get you there. One transfer from SFO to Yosemite will be provided so please ensure you are at our meeting place by noon.
Travelers arriving after our designated departure window will need to make their own arrangements to meet us at our campground.
Please note, there is no parking available at the campground. If you are driving, we recommend parking your car at the airport and joining the included transfer.
On the transfer to Yosemite, stops for bathrooms/snacks/personal items will be made.
Hello Sierra Nevadas! After arriving at our campground, we will set up camp and head out to explore. Our campground will be Wawona Campground inside the park. This evening you will get your first taste of Yosemite. Time and weather permitting, we will take a stroll through Mariposa Grove to see the park’s most incredible sequoias. Get ready to be moved. It’s so special.
Our first welcome dinner will be held camp side. Camp dinners are typical American fare. Think tacos, pulled pork and coleslaw, burgers, veggies…
DAY 2: June 1
Wake up in Yosemite! Let’s explore the high country together. We’ll head to the famous Mist Trail (~7 miles, 2,158 elevation gain, strenuous). They don’t call it the Mist Trail for nothing. Be prepared to get wet. We will climb the famous rock staircase through misty rainbows and experience the incredible waterfall at its peak. This is considered a strenuous hike. There are several places to turn around should you choose not to do the whole hike. After the hike, you’ll have the freedom to explore the valley! Rent bikes and ride to El Cap, sit along the Merced with a book, stroll the boardwalks through the valley. There’s no better place to have free time in the world.
6.6 miles, 2,158 elevation gain, hard hike
Breakfast is at our campsite and lunch is packed once again, to be enjoyed in the wild.
What to pack: Today you’ll want to wear hiking boots, comfortable hiking clothes (think layers; mornings start chilly), and bring a rain jacket, a water bottle, sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, and a small day pack.
Breakfast at camp is included. Typically camp breakfasts are served cold with the occasional hot breakfast served when time allows. Common camp breakfasts include bagels, toast, yogurt, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, juice, and coffee/tea. You’ll pack a bag lunch at the campsite to enjoy along the hike. Pack lunches usually consist of sandwiches, granola bars, chips, fruit, trail mix, etc.
Dinner will either be at camp or in Yosemite Valley.
DAY 3: June 2
Prepare for another amazing day in Yosemite. The group will have freedom to explore Yosemite as they’d like, but we will have daily planned activities as well as recommendations for alternative options.
Your guides may start with an early morning drive (or, if we are feeling really ambitious) a hike to Glacier Point for sunrise (10.3 miles, 3,418 elevation gain, strenuous). Headlamps necessary! From there, we will take in the breathtaking views of Half Dome from the high country. Perhaps one of the greatest vistas on the planet. After that, we will head (perhaps by van, instead of the downhill portion of the hike!) into the valley for another day of freedom. We could do another group hike to Yosemite Falls, picnic along the Merced, spot climbers from El Cap’s meadow, stroll the famous Ahwahnee. There are shuttles running and the valley is yours to discover.

Dinner will either be back at camp or in Yosemite Village or takeout that we eat in the meadow at El Cap while we spot climbers!
DAY 4: June 3
After breakfast, we will say our sad goodbyes to Yosemite and transfer to the California coast. After a camp breakfast, we will break down camp and head to Monterey (~ 5 hours) from Yosemite. We will pack lunch to have along the way before taking to the water on kayaks to explore Monterey Bay and all of its stunning scenery and wildlife. Observe seals, sea lions, and otters in their element and explore downtown Monterey. From there we will head south to Big Sur (~ 1 hour) campground to set up camp and enjoy dinner to close out the night.
What to pack: Today you’ll want to bring your bathing suits, a change of clothes, sunscreen, sunglasses (straps recommended), water, water shoes or shoes that can get wet, and a waterproof case for your phone.
Dinner will be camp side.
DAY 5: June 4
Wake up in Big Sur! After breakfast, we will explore Big Sur with a drive along the Pacific Coast Highway, a short hike, see the iconic McWay Falls in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, and then move our body through a Swell Session together led by Kate Hauf, one of your guides. There may even be time for a quick dip in the Pacific afterward. We will pack our lunches in the morning to enjoy along the coast at one of the many scenic outlooks along the PCH.
What to pack: Today you’ll want to wear hiking boots or comfortable walking shoes, bring a rain jacket, a water bottle, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat. Optional bathing suit. Grab a towel for The Swell Session and to dry off after a cool dip.
In the evening you’ll enjoy your final dinner camp side with your group.
DAY 6: June 5
After breakfast you’ll pack up camp to head to the San Francisco Airport (~ 2 hours). We will say our goodbyes (for now). Don’t book a flight sooner than 4 pm out of SFO.
